I am a Congolese from the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

That part of DRC cannot survive without Kenya. Businessmen from that region import mostly industrial goods from Kenya. In addition, the port of Mombasa is the door for the region’s imports from Dubai, India, Japan, Indonesia and Taiwan.

In fact, the eastern part of DRC is more like part of the East Africa Community.

So, what is currently happening in Kenya is just adding to our hardships.

That is why the people of the eastern part of DRC add their voices to those calling for peace in Kenyans.

President Kibaki and Mr Raila Odinga please, dialogue for the sake of the suffering.

JOSEPH I. MASINDA,
Baraton University.
